The Kalvebod Brygge Stormwater Tunnel is 1.3 kilometers long and is constructed between Gammel Kongevej and Kalvebod Brygge. Scandinavia's largest pump station with a capacity of 20 m³/second is being built to pump rainwater into the harbor.
The project will help reduce flooding in central Copenhagen as overflow water from the existing large sewage pipeline is directed into the tunnel during heavy rainfall situations. PSB® Shear Reinforcement has been used in the base plate of the 20-meter-deep shaft, which serves as temporary workspace for tunnel construction.
"PSB® was a great solution for GAP since the base plate was 1.25 meters high. Peikko's 'hooks' allowed us to complete the main reinforcement and then install the PSB® from above. This improved the work environment compared to the original solution with traditional reinforcement hooks, which makes it difficult to access the bottom reinforcement. Additionally, it saved us time as the process was faster," explains Lasse Liljengren, Project Manager at GAP Entreprise.
Peikko has supplied 3100 units of CE-marked PSB -J-16-1070 for the tunnel's base plate.
